Smoky Valley Arts and Folklife Center will host a figure drawing workshop, Wednesdays, May 5,12,19 and 26 from 6:30-8:30PM at 105 N. Main, Lindsborg. The cost of the class will be $50 per person for all 4 sessions, supplies included. The workshop will be instructed by Cal McNichols and is intended for all levels of skill.  The class will aid not only in improving the ability of the student to draw the human form (body and face), but also how to see and think more competently as an artist. It will mainly consist of working with models for most of the class, interspersed with examples and some small lecture on the instructor’s part. McNichols will provide group instruction as well as adapt to the need of individuals over the course of the sessions. If you have questions please email svafc.ks@gmail.com. About the workshop, McNichols says, “Drawing people is enjoyable and useful and I feel that there is an audience for this subject. I believe that anyone can get better at drawing with practice, even with complicated and intimidating subjects like people. By the end of the class, the students will not only better comprehend the human form and facial structure, but better understand the drawing process as a whole and will be able to use this knowledge in whatever they see fit. Giving students the tools to better create according to their passions I believe is significant.”

This class is partially funded by the Kansas Creative Arts Industry Commission, National Endowment for the Arts, The Raymer Society and Lindsborg Vacation Rentals.
